Cherishing Life’s Moments: A Whirlwind Solo Journey from Houston to the UK to Celebrate a Dear Friend

I wanted to share with you a solo adventure that took me across the pond to the beautiful United Kingdom earlier this year. It was a trip to for a very special & emotional occasion.

A Added Touch of Comfort

I started my journey by flying Premium Plus, a fantastic choice that allowed me to maximize my in-flight rest. The direct flight from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to London Heathrow (LHR) was just what I needed to get some much needed shut eye as the itinerary for the following two days was packed pretty tight.

A Charming Stay in Brighton

Upon arriving in London, clearing immigration was a breeze, and I was met by a private car service waiting to take me to my first destination: Brighton. Located on the southern coast of England, Brighton and its neighboring town, Hove, offered a picturesque backdrop for my stay & this beautiful celebration of life.

I checked in at the Hotel Du Vin Brighton, a charming establishment that exceeded my expectations. The hotel’s website had caught my eye with promises of a cozy room and a fantastic restaurant and bar downstairs. It did not disappoint. My room was spacious and comfortable, providing a welcoming haven for my short stay.

Exploring Brighton and Beyond

With a quick freshening up, I set out to meet some dear friends for a quick lunch. We ventured to Brighton Pier, a historic landmark filled with nostalgia and seaside charm. A place that Moon held close to her heart. It was comforting to visit.

For dinner, we dined at Gars Chinese Restaurant, a local gem that exceeded my culinary expectations. The delectable dishes left me craving for more, yet stuffed to the max.

Evening Delights

As the sun set over the English Channel, we ventured to the Ivy in the Lanes for a quick cocktail—a perfect way to cap off the day.

A Beautiful Celebration

The main reason for my journey was a celebration of life on the picturesque beach in Hove called Rockwater. The event was a poignant tribute to a dear friend and an unforgettable experience. The stunning sunset and fireworks display were the perfect backdrop for such a meaningful gathering.

Heading Back to London

The next day, it was time to bid farewell to Brighton and make my way back to London. I relied on the same professional private car service for a comfortable and hassle-free journey. My final night was spent at the Sheraton Heathrow, conveniently located for my morning flight back to Houston.

Polaris Luxury

One last highlight of my trip was experiencing United Airlines’ Polaris class on the return flight. The extra touches of luxury and comfort made the journey back to Houston truly special.

Cherishing Life’s Moments

As I returned to the warmth of Houston, I couldn’t help but reflect on the brevity of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. This whirlwind solo journey was a reminder to seize opportunities, explore new places, and celebrate the people who truly make our lives extraordinary. We miss you, Moon!

So, fellow wanderlusters, remember that life is short—make each journey count, and cherish every moment along the way. Until next time, happy travels! ✈️🫶🏽🎡🌅
