There’s nothing better than a quick getaway with my daughter—just the two of us, sunshine, and no to-do lists. We packed our bags and headed to one of my favorite islands, Cozumel, for a relaxing weekend of beachside lounging, delicious food, and quality time together.
Flying in Style
We kicked things off right by flying our favorite—United. And of course we splurged on first class. Best decision ever. The flight was quick and smooth, and to our surprise, they now have espresso martinis on the inflight menu! (Yes, we tried them. Yes, they were delicious.) Service was amazing, as usual, and before we knew it, we were touching down in paradise.

Welcome to the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel
Our trusted driver, Armando, was waiting for us at the airport, and within minutes, we were on our way to the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa—our first time staying here. Right away, we noticed the extra security. There’s a gate before you even reach the hotel entrance, which gave us some extra peace of mind.
Check-in was seamless, and our garden-view room was beautiful. Two comfy queen beds, a spacious layout, and a perfect spot right by the adult-only Tranquility Pool—which, as the name suggests, was blissfully quiet. We even had an outdoor shower!
The resort is in a prime location on the island, with stunning ocean views and a private beach. It has a full-service spa, two pools, a dive shop, and multiple restaurants. The vibe here leans more family-friendly, but there’s still plenty of space to relax and enjoy a peaceful getaway.

Poolside Paradise
Friday night, we kept it simple and ordered room service—because nothing says vacation like eating in bed after a travel day.
Our room rate included breakfast, and we had the option of the buffet or ordering from the menu. Both were great, with plenty of fresh fruit, omelets, pastries, and all the coffee we could drink.
Saturday and Sunday, we rented cabanas at the main pool, which was 100% worth it. They came with a solid food & beverage credit, and the service was amazing. The only downside? No swim-up bar (which felt like a missed opportunity), and the main pool was mostly filled with kids. Definitely a family-forward resort, but having the cabana gave us our own little oasis.

Sunset & Dinner at Hemingway’s
For dinner Saturday night, we headed to Hemingway’s, a beachfront restaurant with one of the best sunset views on the island. The setting was gorgeous—palm trees swaying, the ocean stretching out in front of us, and the sky turning all shades of pink and orange.
The menu was fresh and seafood-heavy, which was exactly what we wanted. I had the blackened mahi-mahi, and my daughter went for the tuna steak, both cooked to perfection. We sipped on espresso martinis, listened to the waves, and soaked in the moment.

Live Music at Dick’s Dive
After dinner, we wanted something a little more lively, so we headed to Dick’s Dive, a fun, casual bar in downtown Cozumel known for its live music and festive atmosphere. The bar was energetic, the band was fantastic, and we spent the rest of the night enjoying great music, people-watching, and sipping on tequila shots.

Sunday Night: Italian Indulgence at Alfredo di Roma
For our last dinner, we decided to stay on property and try the Italian restaurant at the hotel, Alfredo di Roma Trattoria. The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed, and the menu had all the classic Italian favorites.
We started with a cream of mushroom soup, followed by a perfectly cooked lasagna bolognese. Everything was rich, flavorful, and exactly what we needed to wrap up our trip.

Heading Home
Monday morning came too soon, but checkout was a breeze, and Armando was ready and waiting to take us back to the airport. Cozumel’s airport is small and stress-free, making departures easy.
The flight home was smooth, and thanks to Global Entry, I was through customs in record time. My daughter used Mobile Passport, and she was through just as quickly. A perfect ending to a perfect weekend.
Final Thoughts
This quick mother-daughter getaway was everything we needed—sunshine, relaxation, amazing food, and just the right amount of adventure. Cozumel never disappoints, and the Presidente InterContinental was a solid choice, especially for families looking for a resort with great service and amenities.
Until next time,
Wanderlusting Wifey
