New Year’s Eve in Mexico 🇲🇽 | Cozumel, Sun, and (Very Important) Mexican Doritos

We rang in the New Year the way we love most—by heading to Mexico and letting Cozumel work its magic. Great food, ocean time, slower mornings, and zero regrets.

We started on the west side of the island at Hotel B Unique, one of our absolute favorites. Boutique, relaxed, and not all-inclusive—which means we get to eat our way across the island, exactly how we prefer.

Dinner highlights included Lobster House, Hemingway’s, Guido’s, and an excellent Indian meal at Samsara—a find we were very happy about.

One of the best days was out on the water with Deluxe Boat Charters. Sun, sea, and that unmistakable feeling that time has slowed down exactly as it should.

New Year’s Eve itself was spent back at Hotel B Unique for their celebration—an elegant three-course set menu, great vibes, and a DJ that kept things going until 3 a.m. We also made a quick stop at Hemingway’s for a New Year’s toast, because one countdown is never enough.

Now, a very important highlight that deserves its own moment: Mexican Doritos. Somewhere between the airport, the hotel, and friends who always help us stock groceries, we were surrounded by them. Bags left in the room. Bags waiting in different spots. Surprise bags appearing when we least expected them. And honestly? They may have been the true MVP of the trip. I love, love, love Mexican Doritos—and Cozumel seems to understand this on a spiritual level.

After a few days, we moved to the east side of the island to Ventanas Al Mar, another longtime favorite. Quieter, wilder, and incredibly peaceful. Chef Jenny Peña spoiled us with unforgettable dinners, and the slower pace was exactly what we needed to close out the year.

We flew home rested, happy, and already missing the ocean air—and yes, the Doritos. Spending New Year’s in Mexico just hits differently, and Cozumel remains a place we’ll always return to.
