A quick hop to Denver for my husband’s training turned into a few unexpected days soaking up one of our favorite cities — and it reminded us why we always enjoy coming back.

We stayed at Le Méridien Denver Downtown, which continues to be a great home base: comfortable rooms, solid amenities, and an easy walk to so much of what we love about downtown Denver.

Food was, as always, a highlight. We revisited Rioja — still a standout — along with Mint Indian Restaurant for comforting, flavorful Indian dishes, and Federales, which ended up being both a dining stop and our game-day headquarters.

In between meals and exploring, we met with our Denver realtor and toured a home — a possible future move that made the trip feel a little more meaningful and forward-looking. It’s always interesting to see the city through a different lens when “someday” starts to feel tangible.

Saturday brought a fun surprise with the Denver Broncos Rally at Larimer Square — great energy, bundled-up fans, and a classic Denver winter vibe. On Sunday, we watched the game at Federales instead of heading out… and were very glad we did. The snow came down hard during the game, making the warm bar, good food, and TVs the right call.

A short trip that turned into a full experience: great food, city energy, snow falling at just the right distance, and time together. Exactly what a “training trip” should secretly become.
